Robin Carnahan Inadvertently Confesses In Writing That Her Ballot Summary For Amendment 2 Was Fatally Flawed

St. Louis – March 2, 2012 -Robin Carnahan has just inadvertently confessed in the written record that her ballot summary for Amendment 2 in 2006-which stated that the amendment would “ban human cloning” without mentioning that it would change the definition of human cloning-was fatally flawed.

The definition of human cloning buried in the 2000-word text of Amendment 2 was different than the scientifically accurate definition that already existed in the Missouri statutes at the time. The effect of this was that voters who were told they were voting to ban human cloning were in fact voting to create a constitutional right to human cloning.

Carnahan made no mention of this critical definition change in the 2006 ballot summary she wrote for the voters to read in the voting booth.

In contrast, when MRFL filed a proposed constitutional amendment in December to correct the definition of human cloning in Amendment 2 back to the original definition that already existed in the Missouri statues-Carnahan wrote a ballot summary that said the MRFL amendment would change the definition of human cloning.

Missouri Roundtable For Life received the letter from Carnahan with her ballot summary text, dated February 29, yesterday, March 1.

“Robin Carnahan has now shown by her own writings in the public record that she has grossly abused her personal fiduciary responsibilities to the voters of Missouri by manipulating them to vote against their own interests,” said Fred Sauer of Missouri Roundtable For Life. “She should be removed from office immediately and make restitution to the voters she defrauded and to those she intends to defraud.”
