Legislative Special Session Threatens To Force Taxpayers To Pay For Abortion, Human Cloning and Embryo Destruction.

In the waning days of the regular legislative session in May, politicians stripped a provision from the so-called MOSIRA bill that would have protected Missouri taxpayer dollars from paying for unethical research.

Now Missouri taxpayers may be forced to pay for abortion services, human cloning and embryo experimentation in an upcoming special session of the legislature.

“Backroom deals are threatening human life here in Missouri. Missouri taxpayers deserve to have their money protected and not spent on experiments that destroy human life,” said Fred Sauer of Missouri Roundtable For Life.

MOSIRA represents a new scheme to fund life science special interests and has been bundled into the so-called “Aerotropolis” bill.

Previously, state funding for life sciences, specifically via the Life Sciences Trust Fund that was passed in 2003, contained protections that prevented taxpayer dollars from being spent on research practices that destroy human life. The MOSIRA bill contained such protections until they were stripped, presumably as part of a legislative deal with the cloning special interests.
